New Tools & Releases
- The first Release Candidate for React Native 0.74, RC 0, has been pre-released. Follow the changes and status here.
- React Native visionOS 0.73.6 is out, featuring significant updates. The release includes the new WindowManager API for efficient multi-window management, enhanced XR API functionality allowing prop passing, and the HoverEffect prop transformed into cursor: pointer.
- Server-driven UI is a popular concept for big companies with lots of content inside their apps. Yet there's not too much of this know-how available to the public. Eric Vicenti shares his work on bringing a server-driven template engine to the masses by open-sourcing this repository.
- react-native-live-markdown came out recently. It's a cross-platform markdown editor, which is a drop-in replacement for TextInput/, and provides fully native experiences such as autocomplete, selection, and spellcheck. It's universally compatible, working seamlessly on Android, iOS, and the web, with upcoming support for visionOS and macOS.
- In its latest release, React Native Storybook 7 introduces several enhancements for React Native users, aligning with core Storybook 7.6. The update ensures compatibility with Storybook 7, improves support for Component Story Format 3, adopts a TypeScript-first configuration, and automates story loading for efficiency.
- Our AI team released a handy small tool to query GPT-4 or models available on Perplexity through a command line interface. Type "ai," set up your API key, and access powerful LLMs through the terminal.

- The TC39 process reaches a new stage: 2.7. It's essentially what 3 used to be, but now 3 has extra testing requirements. If you see a proposal advancing to 2.7, there's a good chance it will become a standard soon.
