New Tools & Releases

  • The React Native New Architecture is finally enabled by default with the stable 0.76 release 🎉 Expo SDK 52 and other out-of-tree platforms, including visionOS, tvOS, and macOS, are following suit.
  • Reassure 1.3 has come out, bringing major advancements in measurement precision and stability for React Native performance testing. Find out more here.
  • React Native Bottom Tabs 0.1.0 has launched! This release brings the New Architecture support, long-press functionality, tvOS compatibility, and a range of new style configuration options. Check out the project 🚀
  • The first Release Candidate of Re.Pack v5 is here, featuring Module Federation 2-with fast-refresh and type safety between federated apps-support for React Native 0.76, and improved stability for Rspack. Grab a release link and the demo!
  • Node.js v23 ships with require(esm) by default. As usual, it also boosts stability and performance with new core modules, refined error handling, and compatibility updates for the latest V8 engine.
  • Do you know Haystack, a canvas-based IDE that makes navigation and refactoring faster? It's a different code editing experience that's worth experimenting with. Haystack v0.16 came out recently.

Other Tech News

  • Now that the react-test-renderer is getting deprecated, React Native Testing Library is working on a new renderer designed for Fabric and targeted for React 19 concurrent features. Check the library's roadmap for more details.
  • A few months after the React Native core team removed default Flipper integration, the team announced archiving the repository. It's about time to move to the new React Native DevTools (in 0.76) and consider Reactotron for network debugging.
  • Android is adopting more frequent SDK releases in 2025, with two major updates planned for Q2 and Q4. The new release cycle will introduce developer APIs and aim to drive faster innovation, enhanced quality, and stability across devices.
